Roguelite Shooter ‘Guns & Dragons’ Announces New Steam Playtest With 4-Player

Developer ABUTTON has announced a new Steam playtest for its roguelite shooter Guns & Dragons, running from September 17 at 12 AM PT through September 23 at 12 AM PT, adding four-player co-op, a new playable character, bows, and progression changes.

Players can request access to the playtest through the game’s Steam page. The previous public test drew over 100,000 sign-ups, and the game has passed 100,000 Steam wishlists.

The new playable character is Eryn, an Elf who lives in the forest and uses spirit flowers and wind magic. Her abilities focus on controlling space and supporting herself during combat.

Bows will make their first appearance as a weapon type during the test. There are 23 bows divided between four categories: Elven Bows, Heavy Bows, Crossbows, and Stingers.

Four-player co-op is another major addition. Guns & Dragons was originally designed around three-player parties, but the developer is increasing the maximum group size in response to feedback from the first test. The developer will use the upcoming playtest to gather feedback and gameplay data for the larger parties. Solo play remains supported.

The roguelite progression structure has also been revised to make build decisions clearer and increase character growth over the course of an individual run. Other changes include UI improvements and wider combat areas intended to provide additional room for medium- and long-range weapons.

Guns & Dragons is currently in development for PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store.
