Razing Core SMS Top-Down Shooter Released

The developer BadComputer0 has just completed their new top-down shooter for the Sega Master System called Razing Core. This is a complete game that was developed using devkitSMS by sverx and features music by Polaria Poyon / Lovepenguin. If you’re an SMS fan, this is absolutely worth the $8 for the digital version that also comes with a fully printable manual in PDF form. There’s a complete in box physical edition planned for 2027 as well, if you’re a collector. There’s tons of info on the main page and more info below the link:

I just bought the game and it’s really impressive. I mean, I liked the original alpha demo, but everything about the game feels like an “upgrade” and I’m really glad I bought it. One thing to note, is the itch.io page mentions that if you’re using an FPGA device to play the game, you may have to disable the BIOS. I only played for a few minutes, but on my MiSTer it worked fine both with the BIOS disabled and set to “internal”. Just open the OSD to disable it though, which is really easy and I believe it’s disabled by default anyway.

I hope to livestream the game later this week and will update the post if I do – For now, check out the launch trailer posted at the top. While I’m generally terrible at shmups, I always enjoy them and look forward to giving this one a real try!
